Backstreet Boys is officially back! PopStop TV News’ XiXi Yang landed an invite to one of the hottest parties of the year, Perez Hilton’s 34th birthday party in West Hollywood on Saturday night, and she chatted with the Backstreet Boys about when we get to hear new music!
The Backstreet Boys are longtime pals of Perez, so they were asked to entertain at his event while on a short break from their current tour with New Kids On The Block.
What we really wanted to know is when they are going to drop some new jams for us, and they spilled the deets!
“We’re actually going to finish up the NKOTB/BSB tour, we leave on the 14th of April, we wrap things up the first week of June, we’ll probably be off until the 4th of July, then we’re back in the studio making a brand new record,” said AJ McLean.
The music industry has evolved quite a bit since the BSB first formed nearly 20 years ago when they started by releasing vinyl records and cassette tapes, but they embrace the changes as a positive aspect and will use them to benefit their new music.
“Music is found in the airwaves now, which is actually a cool thing,” explained Brian Littrell. “I think it’s good for the industry. I think it keeps everyone honest because you have to be a good talent to succeed, so hopefully the Backstreet Boys will continue to succeed.”
Another subject the guys touched on was the return of boy bands! Although, in my opinion, boy bands have never faded out, they were obviously a huge deal back in the 90’s.
“Everything goes full circle and boy bands are back,” said AJ. “We got The Wanted, and we have One Direction and their hit records.”
The BSB even said they wouldn’t mind collaborating with One Direction, the new breakthrough British/Irish boy band that was put together by Simon Cowell on the UK’s X Factor.
Nick Carter appropriately summed up the whole conversation by saying, “As long as the Backstreet Boys are still around, we’re fine.”
We couldn’t agree more! Are you as stoked as we are about the Backstreet Boys making new music?!
