The search for the perfect girl to play Sarah Jessica Parker’s younger version of Carrie Bradshaw in the new Sex and the City prequel pilot, The Carrie Diaries, has finally ended.
E! News reports that AnnaSophia Robb landed the part for the CW pilot that is based on the book written by Candace Bushnell. Robb, 18, has starred in movies such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Race to Witch Mountain and Soul Surfer.
The Carrie Diaries will take place in Manhattan where the future sex columnist is a teenager in the ‘80s. At the time, she is dealing with the death of her mother and first truly learns about love, sex and friendship.
“The focus is so much on Carrie Bradshaw’s character and who she was at 16, 17 years old,” CW development head Thom Sherman told Entertainment Weekly. “Basically how we frame the show is: ‘Carrie at 16 found her first love and it’s not a boy—it’s Man-hattan.’ The other unique aspect is obviously the time period.”
The CW will decide whether they will accept the pilot for a full series in May.
Do YOU think AnnaSophia Robb will do Carrie Bradshaw justice?
