It’s a sad day for believers of true love in Hollywood!
Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, one of the longest-lasting couples in Tinseltown, have officially called it quits.
The two never wed but were together for 14 years and share two children – daughter Lily Rose, 13, and son John Christopher, 10. Although there were rumors circulating about the split earlier this year, Johnny denied the rumors to Britain’s The Daily Sun in May. The deeply private actor said at that time, “The rumors are not true. They are absolutely not true. No matter what I say about this, people believe the opposite. I can’t say enough about it not being over.”
But today, Johnny’s publicist released a statement to “Entertainment Tonight,” saying the couple “have amicably separated.”
“Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.”
The first time we heard about the separation rumors were when Johnny and Vanessa began living separately. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor lived in France and reportedly bought a home in the English countryside last winter.
Although we’ll probably never know what happened between the two, considering how private the duo was when they were dating, Johnny’s skyrocket to fame probably didn’t help the cause.
A decade ago, the 49-year-old actor was just making the transition from being a teen idol from “21 Jump Street” to a rising actor in films like “Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas”. Thanks to the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, “Alice In Wonderland”, and “The Tourist”, Johnny has claimed his throne as a bona fide box-office opener. He became one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood and earned the respect of critics and fans.
Sadly, Johnny joins the list of A-list Hollywood actors like Sandra Bullock and Kate Winslet whose love life seems to tank as their career thrives!
