Zac Efron was at NBC studios in New York City Thursday morning to appear on the Today show to talk about his new animated movie Dr. Suess’ The Lorax, and host Matt Lauer also pressed him to discuss what happened on the red carpet at the movie premiere.
Long story short, at the movie premiere Zac pulled out his sunglasses from his pocket and a condom came out with then and fell onto the carpet. The whole thing was caught on video, of course, and he immediately snatched it up and blushed, but composed himself quickly to continue taking pictures.
“Your name brings a lot of attention to this role and this movie, and there’s something else that brought a lot of attention to this movie recently, Zac, the premiere,” said Lauer. “You wanna take me through what happened?”
Zac obviously was a bit hesitant to respond, but admitted his fault and joked about the matter.
“I never really had a pocket-checking policy when I was going on the red carpet before, but now we’ve fully instated one,” said Zac while chuckling.
The 24-year-old has been rumored to be dating co-star Taylor Swift, but the two young stars both denied it on Ellen DeGeneres’ show last week. Taylor was seen on Monday having lunch with Denver Bronco’s Tim Tebow, so naturally there are speculations about their relationship.
