What a tragedy. A 53-year-old Twilight fan, Gisela Gagliardi, was struck by a car Tuesday morning and died later that day. She had been waiting in line for Thursday’s Twilight panel at Comic-Con 2012, held in San Diego.
According to the police, Gagliardi was in a crosswalk and tried to run across the street against the light. One driver saw the lady and slowed down to avoid her, but a second driver didn’t see her in time. Apparently the Twilight fan saw the car and tried to stop herself, but tripped into the car. She was unconscious and bleeding profusely from the head. She was taken to the hospital, where she died.
Gagliardi had been waiting in line for the Twilight panel since Sunday and was running to keep her place in line. The news of her tragedy spread rapidly through Twitter. The Twilight fanbase tweeted their sadness, using the hashtags #RIPTwiFanG and #FandomIsFamily. They have started a Twitter petition requesting a moment of silent to honor Gisella during Thursday’s panel.
May the Twilight fan rest in peace.
