Tony Lucca from Team Adam did the unthinkable and covered Britney Spears’ classic 90’s song “Baby One More Time” on NBC’s The Voice Monday night, and he NAILED it!
The Voice hasn’t done too well in ratings lately, but after last night’s performance, I can say that has nothing to do with Tony Lucca.
The former Mouseketeer, who performed with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera back in the day, has had that label stuck to him all season. A few weeks ago Coach Christina pointed out those connections, which gave Coach Adam Levine a brilliant idea and advised Tony to sing the old Britney song.
“Rather than get away from your roots, you have to stare them right in the face,” said Adam. “I want to push you to do something that’s going to make people respond, a song so crazy it can work.”
And it did work! The crowd went crazy and got, as Carson Daly called it, “Bieber loud.” All the coaches approved and Tony got my vote!
Besides, XTina even said, “Let##Q##s get Britney Spears out here on the stage and let##Q##s do a real Mickey Mouse Club reunion.” Umm…Yes please!
Check out Tony Lucca’s performance of “Baby One More Time” above and chime in with your opinions.
