It looks like Warner Bros. has set a trend by splitting up “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” into two films! Now, Lionsgate wants to make similar moves with “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.”
In June 2011, rumors circulated around about the films being split, but nothing was confirmed. However, Lionsgate has picked dates for the two movies. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” is set to arrive in theaters on November 21, 2014. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” will arrive on the big screen on November 20, 2015.
Perhaps it was Warner Bros.’ success with splitting up “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” (which earned over $677 million) that other movies soon followed suit. Summit made the move to make two features for “Breaking Dawn,” and now Lionsgate is following in their footsteps. It’s all about strategy!
