Sketchers Shape-Ups got called out, but Kim Kardashian doesn##Q##t care. She##Q##s so serious about keeping her toosh firm, that she’ll wear those (not-so-cute) kicks to help her do the trick!
TMZ reported on Wednesday morning that the Federal Trade Commission has proven that Sketchers make “unfound claims” about the purpose of the shoe.
Sketchers Shape-Ups were promoted by saying they help lose weight and strengthen muscles in the legs, butt and stomach.
The FTC came out saying Sketchers lied about the clinical studies performed for the shoes, so the shoe company has agreed to pay $45 million in settlement costs. Also, anyone who purchased the shoes will be eligible for a refund.
BUT here’s the kicker. Kim Kardashian, who was a spokesperson for Sketchers Shape-Ups, is still backing the results she has received from wearing them. She signed a one-year contract with Sketchers, which ended in January of this year, but heard about the false research before then and stopped promoting the shoe.
Kimmy isn’t chunking her Shape-Ups now, though. She says she’s going to keep them around and may even still sport them. Kris Jenner and Brooke Burke, other spokeswomen for Sketchers Shape-Ups, haven’t commented on the issue.
