U.K. talk show host Graham Norton’s team should thank their lucky stars that the show is not live! Although Russell Brand is usually a master at dodging personal questions with his quick wit, the 37-year-old comedian showed his feisty side when Graham quizzed him about his split.
According to The Mirror, Russell was furious that Graham brought up his ex in front of his mum. Russell refused to answer the question about his divorce with Katy Perry and looked into the crowd, “My mum is here. She got upset when you dragged up my marriage. I saw her cry, Graham. That’s the reality because it’s real people, Graham, that’s my real mum.”
Rusty Rockets added, “I have come here to promote a film and you made my mum cry. I don’t see you as that sort of person, Graham.”
Graham tried to take back the awkward moment and answered, “I don’t see myself as that kind of person,” only to be fired down by Russell, who replied: “And yet you are.”
Ding-ding-ding! To make matters worse, the host explained that he had just interviewed Katy a week earlier and it would be “weird” if he didn’t mention the divorce. Russell responded, “What I would have done, mate, in your position is come up to me before the show and gone, ‘Eh, listen it’s a bit odd your ex-missus was on last week. I might mention it, is that OK? But in all of the chatting and research backstage, no one mentioned it.”
Graham apologized for beaching the talk show etiquette, but Russell ended the awkward topic by saying he’d “stabbed him in the back.”
Yikes! The clip is, fortunate, cut from the show.
What do you think, PopStop Nation? Did Graham have the right to ask Russell that question or should his team have prepared him beforehand?
