Robin Gibb, co-founder of one of the most influential bands in the music scene, lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, May 19, 2012.
The Bee Gees star had a long fight with colorectal cancer. His twin brother, Maurice, predeceased him in 2003. The only remaining member of the trio is Barry Gibb, who reportedly sang to him when the British star feel into a coma last month after contracting pneumonia.
Gibb’s family released a statement confirming the tragic news: “The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.”
