It has been three years since the infamous Chris Brown and Rihanna assault incident. In a recent interview with Oprah, Rihanna speaks about the incident and opens up about how she feels.
She says, “He was the love of my life. The first love.” Rihanna believes that she and Brown will always love each other despite them no longer being in a relationship. She continues on, “I have to forgive him, because I cared about him still. The minute I let go of that, I started living again.” Rihanna was able to forgive Chris through finding the ability to forgive her own father who abused her mother.
In the interview, Rihanna also talks about her career, her family, the recent death of her grandmother and the price of fame. Oprah made a visit to Rihanna’s old neighborhood and was able to gain a better understanding of who Rihanna is. Oprah said, “I went there with my own ideas about who she was. I thought she was going to be kind of a badass, kind of a hard-edged rocker, pop woman. Nothing could have been further from the truth.” The interview aired yesterday on OWN.
