Although the BET Hip-Hop Awards won’t air until October 9, the altercation that took place behind-the-scenes is taking all the headlines. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy entered into a brawl backstage that spilled over to the parking area on Saturday night in Atlanta.
NYC radio DJ Funkmaster Flex was a witness, tweeting, “Jeezy and Rick Ross just had words backstage!! Pushing and shoving!!!” He then added, “Beef just spread to the parking lot!!!” and “Shots fired in parking lot!!! Gunman arrested!!! Back to the show and Club later!!!”
Rapper Machine Gun Kelly tweeted, “Got mase in my eyes. That beef sh*t just got real outside.”
Although the Atlanta Journal-Constitnution’s music blog reports that no shots were fired and George police made no arrests, TMZ did obtained footage of what appears to be a shirtless Rick Ross shouting and a group of guys fighting.
Neither rapper has addressed the incident publically but they took to twitter to let their fans know they’re totally fine.
Rick Ross tweeted: “#MMG shut B.E.T. down !!!Tonight we show u how to ball ROzay & @2chainz Mansion Elan #GoldParty”
Jeezy tweeted, “TONIGHT!! @iamdiddy, @chrisbrown and I are taking over COMPOUND for the BET Hip Hop Awards after party!”
So what exactly happened between the two rappers who were friends and even Def Jam label mates just three years ago?
Long gone were the days when Rick Ross and Young Jeezy recorded “Hustlin (Remix),” “Luxury Tax” and “Erryday” together. Things started to turn sour between the two during the summer of 2010. Rick Ross dropped the “Albert Anastasia EP”, which featured the hit “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast),” an ode to Big Meech and B.M.F.
Jeezy didn’t mention it at the time, but he seems to have taken offense to the song. He released a mixtape called 1000 Grams, which featured his own version of “B.M.F.” called “Death B4 Dishonor.”
Jeezy rapped, “How you blowin money fast, you don’t know the crew? Oh you part of the fam, sh*t I never knew.”
A few mixtapes later, the two dodged multiple interviews and never addressed the beef publically, until the BET Hip-Hop Awards.
