Get ready, Red Hot Chili Peppers fans! The band is about to release a bunch of their music, starting next month! RHCP will release a total of eighteen unheard songs before the end of the year. Drummer Chad Smith says the tracks will be available as digital downloads and 7-inch vinyl pressings. RHCP wanted to get their music out for their fans.
Chad reveals, “We just wanted them to come out because we just really like them. We didn’t want them to get lost, so we’re gonna put them out, mainly for our fans. They would’ve waited for the Warner Bros. box set in, like, 2020, if there’s even a record company around then. I’m glad they’re going to see the light of day because it’s an important part of the band and what we were doing at the time.”
Starting on August 14, “Strange Man”/”Long Progression” will be released, followed by “Magpies”/”Victorian Machinery” on September 11, and “Never Is a Long Time”/”Love of Your Life” on October 2. The release for the other singles is still being determined by RHCP. Smith says the first release has a midtempo funk sound. He adds, “They’re just really good songs and they just need to come out.”
The vinyl pieces will feature artwork from Kelsey Brookes. Fans will be able to combine all 7-inch records released in order and create a larger piece of artwork.
RHCP are currently taking a break before continuing their world tour in Europe. The band will play at Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 4 and at LA’s Staples Center on August 11 and 12.
Although band member Anthony Kiedis had to recover from foot surgery earlier this year, RHCP took the opportunity to have a few jam sessions. As a result, RHCP may have a head start on their “I’m With You” album. The band doesn’t want their fans waiting another few years for a new record!
Who’s looking forward to the release of singles from RHCP?
