And the role of Plutarch Heavensbee goes to…Philip Seymour Hoffman! Plutarch Heavensbee is a character from Catching Fire, the second movie in the Hunger Games trilogy.
The role of the new Head Gamemaker was given to Hoffman in June, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Wes Bentley played the Head Gamemaker, Seneca Crane, in the first film.
Catching Fire starts shooting in the fall, around September, with new director France Lawrence. The sequel will center around Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellarks’s return home after winning the 74th annual Hunger Games. There is a rebellion against the Capitol, and Katniss and Peeta must return to the arena for a special edition of the Hunger Games. The movie is set for release on November 22, 2013.
Philip Seymour Hoffman was recently a part of Mike Nichol’s revival of Death of a Salesman on Broadway and received a Tony Award nomination for his role. Next, he will be seen in The Master, starring Amy Adams, Laura Dern, and Joaquin Phoenix, and A Late Quartet, starring Christopher Walken and Wallace Shawn.
