When our PopStop TV News team reported earlier last week that Nicki Minaj cancelled tours due to vocal strains, it looks like she had an even better reason to rest up. Two sources confirmed that Nicki Minaj is super close to inking a deal to sit next to Mariah Carey on the judges’ panel of “American Idol”.
One source said, “I’m not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it. A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening.”
Another source revealed that the “Super Bass” rapper is “100% confirmed to judge ‘American Idol’.”
Alongside the 29-year-old rapper, Nick Jonas, 19, is also in running to fill one of the seats at the judges’ table. Randy Jackson is reportedly being moved in into a “mentoring role” for the talents.
Whoever sitting next to five-time Grammy winner Mariah is going to feel the heat, but we’re sure Nicki’s multiple faces can pull it off. Perhaps she’ll ditch her alter egos and keep it real like
“American Idol” returns in January 2013.
