The 21st Annual 2012 MTV Movie Awards are creeping up and we’re a little too anxious to find out the winners. The show airs live this Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m. EST from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., hosted by two-time VMA host Russell Brand! Here is the complete list of nominees and some of our predictions.
Although reality TV has almost completely taken over, the MTV Movie Awards are one of the most fun events to remind us that the big screen is still in business.
Bridesmaids and The Hunger Games each have a whopping eight nominations, but does that mean they will dominate in winnings? I hope so.
Over the past few years, the MTV Movie Awards have been overtaken by the Twilight series, but this year things might not be as predictable. The latest Harry Potter film, Bridesmaids, The Help and other amazing movies will be factored in, but I think Hunger Games will give the vampires a run for their Golden Popcorn trophy.
Let’s just remind everyone that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson aren’t even NOMINATED for Best Female and Best Male Performances, and that Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are. Just saying.
While many critics think Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2 should win the biggest prize of the night, Movie of the Year, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1 is nominated and is likely to be taken down by The Hunger Games, which the young generation seems to be obsessing over at the moment.
The Twilight gang probably won’t leave empty handed. Robsten (or whatever Rob and Kristen are called) have owned Best Kiss and, in my opinion, still do. I##Q##m just going to keep my fingers crossed that if they win it, they won##Q##t be as awkward as previous times.
I can’t help to assume that Bridesmaids is a given for Best Gut-Wrenching Performance, not taking any other scene into consideration besides the wedding dress shopping spree. Need I say more?
On the topic of Bridesmaids, Melissa McCarthy’s hilarious performance in the movie is expected to earn her the title of Best Comedic Performance and potentially Breakthrough Performance.
Got any guesses for Best Fight since the Twilight cast versus the Hunger Games cast outside the MTV Movie Awards venue after the show isn##Q##t an option? (I had to.)
