Earlier this year, Sir Sidney Poitier came onstage at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards to honor his good friend, Morgan Freeman, with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
“You infuse the characters you play with a real life aura,” said Sidney to Morgan. “In my humble opinion, you are a prince in the profession you’ve chosen.”
At the 2012 Icon Awards in Beverly Hills on June 8th, it was Morgan’s turn to pay tribute to his fellow cinematic legend friend. “My inspiration?” Morgan told PopStop TV News exclusively, “Bottom line – this guy right here. He’s my mentor. He was a mentor long before he knew his position in my life.”
When I asked Morgan which actor he’d like to choose to play him in a biopic, Morgan whispered to Sidney, “Sidney, do you think you can handle it?”
Sidney humbly replied, “If I were given the opportunity to play you, I don’t think I can come with the required excellence.”

Morgan laughed, then added, “probably someone who maybe hasn’t risen yet.”
The 75-year-old actor absolutely nailed Nelson Mandela’s role in “Invictus”, so it’s only fitting to wonder who will play him in a film!
