Keep the casts members happy or you’ll have a lawsuit on your hands! A few days ago the cast of Modern Family filed a lawsuit against 20th Century Fox TV, demanding their contracts be declared null and void. They wanted out of their current contracts in order to receive higher paychecks.
The Modern Family cast also wanted to be able to pursue acting jobs outside of Modern Family and Fox. The cast members stood their ground as they cancelled a table read, which halted production of the show.
However, after many negotiations, they have reached a settlement with Fox. Instead of the $65,000 per episode that they currently make, the actors will now receive about $170,000 or $175,000 per episode. That raise will continue to rise during season eight to about $350,000 per episode.
In exchange for their pay raises, the Modern Family cast will add an extra year to their seven-season contract and drop the lawsuit against 20th Century Fox TV. Production will begin again next week.
The newest season of Modern Family begins on September 26!
