Some people have nothing better to do with their time so they pull pranks on celebrities. There have been Internet death hoaxes, but now Miley Cyrus has become the latest victim of a prank call.
Police received an urgent prank call claiming that shots were being fired in Miley’s house as well as a possible robbery or home invasion. North Hollywood police confirmed they responded to a call for Cyrus’ San Fernando Valley home.
Armed police, firefighters and rescue squads swarmed the actress’ home only to find it empty. The false alarm is known as “swatting,” a prank where a caller makes up a serious crime in an attempt to dispatch law enforcement to a home. An officer told GMA, “It’s not just bad, it is a crime. And if we find out who it is, we will arrest them and prosecute them.”
Thankfully the singer was safe and sound far away from the nutty scene! Miley Cyrus is currently in Philadelphia with her fiancé Liam Hemsworth, who is working on his new film, Paranoia.
