Yikes! Country singer Luke Bryan has been caught using a National Anthem cheat sheet!
Luke performed the anthem at the Major League Baseball’s All-Star game Tuesday night. He could be seen glancing down at his hand while he sang. Some viewers thought this action was a disgrace and made him a “bad American.” They tweeted, “Luke Bryan sings the National Anthem the way I used to take geometry tests,” and “Raise your hand if you know the national anthem…put your hand down @LukeBryan Online you’ll be able to read it better!”
The country star admitted he did check lyrics written on his hand. He tweeted his apology. “I had a few key words written down to insure myself that I wouldn’t mess up. I just wanted to do my best. I promise it was from the heart. If I offended anyone with my approach I sincerely apologize. Anytime I sing the anthem it is an honor and my heart beats out of my chest.” Aww Luke!
Just because he wrote down the lyrics on his hand, doesn’t mean that Luke Bryan is a bad American! There have been other celebrities who have messed up the National Anthem, like Christina Aguilera during the 2011 Super Bowl, Keri Hilson during a Lakers game, and Jesse McCartney at Pepsi 500. JMac actually left out an entire section of the song. Everyone makes mistakes!
Don’t worry, Luke Bryan, you still did a wonderful job singing our nation’s anthem! Would you rather have the singer forget the lyrics, or have a cheat sheet on their hand? Tell us!
