Yikes! MGA Entertainment, the maker of Bratz dolls, is suing Lady Gaga and Universal Music Group for more than $10 million in damages. The Bratz doll makers agreed to produce Lady Gaga dolls in December 2011 and Bravado (merchandising firm) paid $1 million to have the dolls shipped out before the 2012 Christmas shopping season.
However, in April, Bravado told MGA that Lady Gaga wanted to delay production of the dolls and wait to ship them out in 2013, when her new album is released. MGA said they “invested millions into the pre-production of the Lady Gaga Dolls and put its reputation and goodwill on the line in order to secure distributors and retail shelf space…”
A rep for Lady Gaga said there was no need to drag Lady Gaga into the drama. This is solely between Universal Music Group’s merchandising company and MGA. Who knew dolls could cause so much trouble!
