One of the highlights of the Billboard Awards 2012 was when Katy Perry accepted her Spotlight award and performed her new single “Wide Awake” on stage. The soulful slow jam is dedicated to – you guessed it – her ex hubby Russell Brand.
“I want to say that these songs have been kind of like the diary of my last two years,” She told the audience prior to her performance. “And tonight, later when I get on the state, I’m going to be singing my personal most intimate song for you this evening, a song that I wrote for this little film I have coming out Fourth of July weekend. You’ve got to go see it!”
