The second season of NBC’s hit show “Smash” is going through a lot of revamping. Although “Gossip Girl” producer Josh Safran already ditched Ellis and Dev, he brought in a fresh face guest star – Jennifer Hudson.
Jennifer is rumored to play Veronica, a talented performer who has reached major Broadway star status. She’s got a Tony Award herself, but she didn’t find success without making big sacrifices along her journey.
Veronica will face off with Karen, played by Katharine McPhee, and Ivy, Megan Hilty.

Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment said, “We’re thrilled to have Jennifer Hudson coming to ‘Smash’. This series is a showcase for some of the best musical talent in the business and that’s a fitting description for Jennifer Hudson. Her character will represent someone who reached their broadway dream but also paid a price for it.”
The last time we saw the 30-year-old singer on TV was in 2004, when she was a contestant on “Idol”. The last acting performance J-Hud did was “Dreamgirls” film in 2006, for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award.
Will “Smash” be Jennifer’s ticket to getting an Emmy?
