Scottish actor Gerard Butler has been at the Betty Ford Center in California seeking treatment for substance abuse from prescription pain medications for three weeks and is scheduled to be released today, TMZ reports.
According to the report, Butler checked himself into the facility after becoming addicted to prescription drugs, which he had been taking because of the physically demanding pressures from filming “300” in 2006.
The problem increased later when he was badly injured in a surfing accident while filming “Of Men and Mavericks” in December.
Sources also tell the website that the 42-year-old developed issues with using cocaine, but the main reason for treatment was for the pain medications.
