If you got your Game of Thrones DVD, you must’ve seen that one of the several decapitated heads on sticks is that of George W Bush. Now, HBO is issuing a public apology.
Nope, that’s not a George-Bush-lookalike… that really is Bush’s head! One of “The Game of Thrones” showrunners said during the episode 10 commentary that “George Bush’s head appears in a couple beheading scenes. It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. It’s just, we had to use what heads we had around.”
After fans quickly pointed out the comment, HBO issued a public statement, saying “We were deeply dismayed to see this, and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series, who apologized immediately for this careless mistake.”
HBO has since halted all future shipments of the DVDs, removed the videos from their digital platforms, and promises to edit the scene for all future airings.
Apparently, the show uses a lot of prosthetic body parts and because they couldn’t afford to have them made from scratch, they rented them in bulk. One of the heads is just George W’s!
