Charlize Theron is one of the busiest A-listers in Hollywood. When she’s not swamped with promoting her upcoming movie “Snow White and the Huntsman” and adjusting to motherhood with her adopted 4-month old baby boy, Charlize is taking a stance for marriage equality!
The gorgeous “Young Adult” actress was honored with the Ally for Equality Award at the Ritz Carlton in Los Angeles Saturday night during the Human Rights Campaign gala even.
After receiving the award, Theron spoke with PopStop TV News exclusively for the first time about marriage equality.
“I think we’ve come along way in the past 15 years but we still have a long way to go,” Charlize dished. “We had people who really felt like there was something wrong with them and I think we have such great role models today.”
The 36-year-old actress credits major pop culture icons like Lady Gaga for helping to advocating gay rights. “We have songs writing about it – ‘Born This Way’. I think that people are really getting around to the idea that this is really about acceptance. We’re all different and that’s what makes us who we are.”
Charlize’s advice to struggling teens is simple – “Keep your chin up. Sleep it off. Tomorrow is a new day.”
When I asked her what kind of a world she’d want her newly adopted baby boy Jackson to live in, she said “A world with compassion.”
