Disney’s at it again with yet another sequel! There have been rumors that Disney is silently developing a sequel to its 1993 Halloween classic Hocus Pocus. Kenny Ortega, who also directed the popular High School Musical trilogy, directed the original film. The movie starred Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker as the three resurrected witches, and Omri Katz, Vinessa Shaw and Thora Birch as the three heroic teenagers.
Hocus Pocus has been a classic and favorite for many years. The Disney channel plays it every year come Halloween time. The film focuses on teenager Max, who accidentally resurrects three witches, and must protect his sister with the help of his crush, a zombie, and an immortal black cat.
Moviehole reports that the sequel will be titled Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elderwitch. The site suggests that Disney will focus on bringing in a new set of characters, since many of the original cast members, like Sarah Jessica Parker, have gone onto bigger and better things, or fallen off the face of the earth. However, people probably wouldn’t mind the return of Vinessa Shaw, who is now all grown up!
Disney’s Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elderwitch is currently only in its development stages, so it’s up to the fans to imagine what’s to come!
