When he was a child, Chris Colfer loved going to the bookstore at midnight to get the next “Harry Potter” book. Now, he’s passing on that passion for books to younger children. Chris has released a children’s novel! His novel is titled, “The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell.” Colfer has been writing this book since he was 10. Impressive!
The Glee actor told MTV News, “I was obsessed with fairy tales, and I was a very, very inquisitive kid, and I would ask my mom all kinds of questions. It all kind of formed a story in my head, and I really wanted to be a published author when I was 10, but I had a hard time writing a novel when I was 10. So I decided to wait until I was little bit older and then get it done.” Aww, we can just picture a young Chris Colfer writing his ideas down!
Older Chris said he wrote the book last summer during the “Glee” world tour. He wrote in his hotel rooms and under the stage during performances. His singing helped him think of witty things for Connor to say. He’d run down to type his ideas onto his computer then rush back to the stage to perform ‘Single Ladies’ in a leotard. “I don’t think I’ve mentally recovered from that time.”
“The Land of Stories” focuses on twins, Connor and Alex, who fall down a rabbit hole into an enchanted world, full of their favorite storybook characters. They have a charmed book of stories. There is already a sequel in the works where the twins will be older. Fans can also hear Chris Colfer on the audio version of the book.
He has certainly kept busy! Besides the novel, Chris Colfer penned the script for 2012 film, “Struck By Lightning,” and wrote a script for “The Little Leftover Witch,” a Disney Channel pilot. The guy sings, acts, dance, writes…what can’t he do!
