America’s Next Top Model has wrapped up its 18th cycle and the international battle between U.S. contestant Laura LaFrate and Sophie Sumner from the U.K. has been settled. Here’s what went down.
Laura and Sophie continued pushing their limits and after a tumultuous term of competition, the Brit ironically came out on top as America##Q##s Next Top Model!
The finale, which aired Wednesday, May 30, featured the rivals shooting for their Covergirl TV commercials and print ads. Laura crumbled at the pressure and suffered a minor panic attack, but she was brought to the hospital and returned in time for the Vogue Italia photo shoot.
The final runway show down took place at the MGM Macao. Laura and Sophia were wearing Forever 21 and kept it close to the last minute. Some of the eliminated contestants were shown in holographic form in the audience, which was both creepy and really cool.
Sophia was then announced the winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 18! And we just thought Tyra Banks didn’t have it in her to not let an American win…
Along with the ANTM winner title, Sophia Sumner, who was previously the runner-up in Britain’s Next Top Model Cycle 5, received a contract with LA Models and NY Model Management as well as a contract with Covergirl cosmetics. She will also be featured in Vogue Italia and be a guest correspondent placement for Extra news magazine.
Congrats, Sophia!
Did you think the judges got it right? Sound off in the comments!
