American Idol is down to the wire and judging by Wednesday night’s performances by Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Phillip Phillips, anything could happen. So who is one step closer to becoming the next American Idol?

Joshua might have won the award for most beloved contestant by Jennifer Lopez or most standing ovations in one season, but his winning days on the Idol stage are over.
If I had to guess, I would’ve at least picked Joshua to stick around for the finals…or even win it all! But that just wasn’t in the cards, and America chose their top two contenders to be the 16-year-old military kid and the pawnshop working Georgia boy.
The top three Idols got to head home for a quick break this past week and were all welcomed with open arms and obnoxious screams from adoring fans. Each hometown visit struck emotions and helped us get to know Jessica, Joshua and Phillip at an even closer level.
On Wednesday night, the top three each sang three songs: the judges’ pick, their own pick and a song chosen by Jimmy Iovine. Jessica and Joshua were both vocally on point as always, and although Phillip didn’t exactly impress with his song choice, Jimmy’s idea for him to sing “We’ve Got Tonight” was the cherry on top of his finals Sundae!
It was so sad to see Joshua go, but I have no doubt that he will have eager record labels knocking at his door by the end of the night. And besides, next week’s final show will still be outstanding!
