The 012 Olympics have had an awesome start with the Americans sweeping medals in various sports! One of the notable Americans Missy Franklin, 17-year-old, won the women’s 100-meter backstroke on Monday, her first individual Olympic gold medal.
Franklin is a high school student from Aurora, Colorado and will be a senior at Regis Jesuit High School. In the wake of the Aurora shooting, the gold medalist is dedicating all of her races to Colorado, in memory of the victims. Missy said, “No matter how well I do, I’m going to give my best in every single race, and every single race, I’m going to have that Colorado incident on my mind.”
Way to go Missy! You definitely make your hometown and the rest of America proud!
